Results Update:
I was able to complete a total of 8 patient interviews so far. I also was able to speak with an MA, an NP, and case manager. All of these were very rich discussions and I will begin analysis and producing themes soon. In addition to these interviews I’ve also complied many clinical observations that will help further supplement the interviews and add context to the clinical encounters. I will attempt to acquire a couple more patient interviews, hopeful from patients at the ADIS center to get another data point beyond the single clinic site I have been primarily using. Additionally, I want to reach out to interview the director of primary as well to get more information from a higher systems level perspective. I look forward to these additional data points and the perspective they will add.
Results Update:
I just got access to the EMR at Talbert House. I was originally going to do a more robust look at the A1c numbers of many patients but with access issues with the computer and limited work spaces in the clinic/office I decided to change my approach. The NP I work most closely with gave me four patients that she feels like are good case studies for diabetes care at Talbert House. I did a chart review on each on them and plan to follow up with her about them to hear her perspective and hopefully interview the patients as well.
