Community Partner: Student Run Free Clinic/ The Healing Center

The Healing Center is a non-profit organization in Springdale, OH that provides multifaceted services to the community. Founded in 1995 by a group of Vineyard Cincinnati Church members, this organization serves approximately 10,000 clients per year. Practical, social, and spiritual support is provided to individuals and families in need. Examples of services include food and clothing, financial assistance, job coaching, educational classes, and counseling.

The UC Student-Run Free Clinic was established in 2019 by a group of UCCOM students and their mentors to provide healthcare services to uninsured adults. Located in the Healing Center, the clinic provides acute care services as well as health care screenings, vaccinations, and patient resources. Medicine and pharmacy students collaborate to serve the community under the supervision of licensed preceptors. SRFC continues to grow toward its goal of becoming a comprehensive primary care clinic for the management of both acute and chronic illnesses.

About Anna

My undergraduate education sparked my interest in public health and environmental justice, leading me to pursue a Master’s degree in epidemiology and ultimately a career in medicine. I chose the Service and Advocacy Elective to create a meaningful service project with and for the Student-Run Free Clinic and the Healing Center, organizations that I have enjoyed working with since my first year of medical school. This year, I plan to apply for Internal Medicine residency.
