With my interview schedule slowing down, I’ve been able to spend more time at Equitas! We’ve been having more in-person meetings this month and shadowing time with the team that is working to get our navigator program up and running. We are continuing to meet with stakeholders to figure out which patient population this team will best serve and the processes that will be the most effective for patient care. We are still in the stage of defining the roles, the team scope, the process map and the job description that correlates. We are also still data gathering from other teams the best way to publicize and share within Equitas this new program.

I do not need any help this month, but I am getting a little nervous trying to figure out how to keep the ball rolling once I am back on rotations. Hoping to spend a few more shadowing days early January and then set up a good cadence either over email or in the evenings with my team.

We finished most of the initial data collection for this fall semester. Follow-up surveys are still being sent out and a few minor questions tweaked. Once we rolled out the survey in Nov clinic, I noticed a few tech glitches and issues with questions that we had to repair. Discussing whether to still physically walk through the survey or have independent survey administration, we formed a survey to encompass much of the data from previous clinic clients. We are partnering with Katie for more data collection and an initial health needs assessment that has been going well. We plan to run the surveys through clinic in Feb.

This month has been extra stressful due to interviews and high turnover of staff especially during long holidays. I am still working with the supervisor on initial data and getting consent unfortunately. We are hopeful to finish up consents and initial set up in January before I go back to coursework. I have been continually working at graceworks in the meantime just going on outings, getting to know the clients, and doing crafts/events around the site.

December Updates:

  • No major changes or updates for this month
  • Paused sessions for winter break to be resumed the second week of January

Finalized the schedule for my surveying and started to work on the focus group content! Excited to implement this in the new year!

I implemented my survey and was able to obtain 50 responses at CAIN. The survey roll-out initially was difficult because CAIN guests were not filling out the survey. I had been trying to use a QR code and was having guests fill the survey out of their phones. I pivoted to paper copies of the survey, and this increased participation overnight by a significant margin. I went from 5 guests completing the entire survey in 3 hours to 20 guests completing the survey in the same amount of time. Megan and I worked together to roll-out each others’ surveys, which also worked well because it gave me a lot more confidence talking to people. I don’t need any help right now. Next step: converting the paper surveys to digital data and data analysis.
