Community Partner: Cradle Cincinnati
Established in 2012, Cradle Cincinnati is a collaborative organization focused on ending infant mortality in Hamilton County. Deeply connected in the community, Cradle Cincinnati works with health and civic partners throughout the county to improve the infant mortality rate and eliminate racial inequities in the health of moms and babies.
Cradle Cincinnati pursues their mission through supporting families, amplifying community voices, and transforming systems. The Cradle Cincinnati Connections program support for families through providing immediate help and support to care for themselves and their infants. Queens Village and Kings Stand amplify community voices by establishing caring & empowering communities for Black families. The Cradle Cincinnati Learning Collaborative & Policy Committee are focused on creating systemic change through the establishment of a network for healthcare professionals and advocating for policy change in our local and state government.
About Elsa
Elsabet (Elsa) Haile was born in Ethiopia and raised in the Chicagoland area. She completed her B.A. in Chemistry in Nashville, TN in 2018. Long term, she is planning to establish a career in an IM specialty, possibly Gastroenterology, and devoting her career to health equity, mentoring underrepresented minorities, and teaching.
Her passion for education and health equity drove her to choose the Service & Advocacy elective. She is excited to learn and collaborate with Cradle Cincinnati in their efforts to improve infant mortality and support Black people in Cincinnati.
