Methods and Implementation
Determine any survey instruments or other research tools needed for your project.
Determine on what level your project will occur and create a strategic plan for data collection (e.g. patient, practice, community level). Discuss how data collection can occur with your community partner
Develop a database for data from any surveys, interviews, other data collection (use your project folder accessed on your Data page).

The primary health education material that will be offered and recommended through the presentation is the free, online Trauma-Informed Educator Series. This interactive training program was designed for educators teaching kindergarten through 12th grade. It was developed through a collaboration between the Mayerson Center for Safe and Healthy Children at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the McKinsey Health Insitute. The foundation of this training is based on the “4 R’s of a Trauma-Informed Approach” (realize, recognize, respond, and resist re-traumatization). Data from initial pilot studies showed that those who underwent the training exhibited an increased confidence in their ability to “support students experiencing trauma” (52% of participants pre-training as compared to 87% post-training). Further, 87% of participants from the pilot studies reported utilizing skills obtained through the training with 89% of participants indicating that they would recommend the training to peers (https://mayersoncentertic.org/). The groups involved in the development of this resource coupled with the data from pilot studies suggest the potential success and impact of this online training in our target population.
Participants will be identified primarily by members of the Joining Forces for Children coalition as well as through word of mouth and self-identification. The Google Survey link above along with a brief description of the project will be sent out to the Joining Forces for Children coalition, which is comprised of over 700 members. There is an established listserv/mailing list that will enable the information to be disseminated to all people who are involved with or have been connected with Joining Forces for Children. This coalition, which represents diverse individuals and groups throughout Cincinnati, including many associated with education, will utilize their connections in the local community to help identify school boards, school administrators, and parent teacher organizations that would benefit from the presentation and subsequent resources. In some cases, the individual who received the email and Google survey may be a superintendent, board of education member, school administrator, or PTO member who can sign-up on behalf of the organization to which they belong. Alternatively, the recipient of the information may have a connection to one of the aforementioned groups, and may pass the Google Survey along with encouragement to participate. In addition, I will also be sending out emails directly to Superintendents and potentially other school administrators of local school districts to share the project and encourage participation directly as well.
